Collection

Private collection

A small watercolour of the Christmas market on the square Am Hof in Vienna in falling snow, one of many views of old Vienna by the Vienna-born Zajicek. At right rises the equestrian statue of Field Marshal Radetzky, which stood here from 1892 to 1912, with the Marian Column in the distance; below, people crowd between the stalls choosing fir trees. The grey sky and snow share similar tones and are the hardest part of the puzzle.
