Bohemian Church on Christmas Eve
Franz Skarbina
The domed Bethlehem Church in Berlin's Friedrichstadt, known as the Bohemian Church, on a snowy Christmas Eve. Built in the 1730s for Protestant refugees from Bohemia, it was destroyed in the Second World War. Lit yellow windows under the snow-covered dome and a little girl in a red coat stand out against the grey of the winter evening, a street mood typical of Skarbina's Berlin pictures.
