A coloured illustration by Hosemann for the chapter 'Der Weihnachtsmarkt' in Adolf Glassbrenner's Berliner Volksleben, published in Leipzig in 1847. Three ragged boys set out to sell their wares at the Christmas market: one with a drum, one in a blue cap clutching paper rolls, and one carrying sticks hung with picture sheets. A frieze of toys, among them a bear on a stand and a trumpet, runs along the top.
