A Christmas scene by the Austrian painter Carl Reichert, best known for his dogs: seven white terriers with brown and black patches gather round a small decorated tree. One barks, one sits gazing up, a puppy half hides behind the tree, and each takes its own pose. The background is plain white snow, so use each dog's markings as landmarks and leave the broad white areas until last.
