A winter scene painted in 1903 by the Czech-Austrian painter Emil Czech: a woman in a red headscarf carries a freshly cut fir on her back and walks along a snowy path with a stick. The path follows a wooden fence towards a snow-covered cottage, and the bare branches of fruit trees reach thinly into the overcast sky. The snow and sky are wide and pale, so start with the fence and the tree trunks.
