Private collection

A 19th-century painting signed F. Krüger at lower left: in a snowy winter wood, a white-bearded man in a fur hat holds an axe and picks out a fir to bring home as a Christmas tree. A boy with a sled rope in hand leans on a stick and watches, while a brown dog noses at the base of the tree; the auction catalogue calls the pair father and son. A rosy dusk sky and bare branches fill the upper part.
