A Christmas evening by the German painter Leopold von Kalckreuth, in which four children gaze in silence at small candles burning on a table. The only light comes from those candles and the tree behind, so the children's profiles and golden hair glow warmly while their clothes dissolve into the dark. The brushwork is quick and loose; in the puzzle, fix the four faces first and join the spaces between them by colour.
