An illustration Jenny Nyström painted in 1924 for the Christmas magazine Julklockan (The Christmas Bell). A horse-drawn sleigh carrying a family wrapped in furs races through the snow towards a hilltop church with every window lit, followed by another sleigh and a line of people on foot. It recalls the Swedish journey to the dawn service on Christmas morning; the blue snow shadows and night sky are close in colour, so watch the edges.
