Collection

National Gallery of the Komi Republic, Syktyvkar

A small oil on cardboard painted in 1910 by the Russian painter Aleksey Korin: a woman in a white dress stands by a decorated Christmas tree in a room at evening. A shaded lamp glows yellow on the table at the left, and the white curtains and the folds of her dress catch its light against the bluish dusk. Korin came from a family of icon painters in Palekh, was a member of the Peredvizhniki and taught at the Moscow School of Painting.
