The Finnish painter Magnus Enckell looks through a doorway into the salon of Kilo Manor in Espoo, near which he lived. A large tree hung with candles glows golden, small flags are tied to its branches, and a figure sits in a chair before it. The green and red-brown door frame encloses the view like a picture frame, and the light, rapid brushwork makes the spruce branches seem to sway.
