The Introduction of the Slavonic Liturgy
Alphonse Mucha
The third canvas of The Slav Epic, on the introduction of the Slavonic liturgy by Cyril and Methodius in Great Moravia. In front a youth inside a circle raises his arm, behind him a crowd in white spreads before a cream palace, and in the sky figures in deep blue hover at the left while saints in embroidered robes stand at the right. The youth, the sky groups and the palace walls are the landmarks; the chalky crowd comes last.
