The eighth canvas of The Slav Epic: Jan Hus preaching in the Bethlehem Chapel in Prague in 1412. Under the Gothic vault the congregation packs the floor and looks up to Hus in the pulpit at upper left, a woman in white kneels in front and Queen Sophia sits listening among the crowd. In the grey-violet haze the red garments, the green carpet and the window light on the right are the landmarks; the vault is pieced along its ribs.
