January from The Months (1899), twelve small circular vignettes drawn for a calendar. A woman huddles against the cold in a salmon-pink hooded cloak drawn up over her head, chin resting on her hand, with bare branches, a few birds and a grey winter sky behind her. The word JANVIER at upper left and the rim of the circle are the landmarks; the broad pink cloak is matched along the lines of its folds.
