Painted in 1917: a horse-drawn sledge heads down a snowy forest track towards a cabin in a sunlit clearing. Snow lies thick on the fir branches and turns pink in the low sun, and the cabin at the end of the road glows warmly. Klever had lived in Germany from 1908 until the war forced him home in 1915; this picture dates from after his return.
