The Yellow House (The Street)
Vincent van Gogh
The house on the corner of Place Lamartine in Arles that van Gogh rented in 1888, painted that September. The right-hand part with green shutters was his home and studio, where Gauguin stayed with him for about two months; the house with the pink awning beside it was the restaurant where he often ate. Behind, under a deep ultramarine sky, a railway bridge crosses the street.
