Giuseppe Arcimboldo
A profile built from the fruit and vegetables of summer, one of the Four Seasons that Arcimboldo painted in 1563, the year after he entered Habsburg service in Vienna. A peach makes the cheek, a cucumber the nose and an ear of maize the ear, and his name and the date are woven into the straw collar and shoulder. It hangs in Vienna beside Winter from the same year.
