Three blue horses stand pressed together, heads lowered, before red and yellow hills. For Marc blue was the colour of the masculine and the spiritual, and the rounded lines of the horses' backs echo the curves of the hills behind them. That same year he founded Der Blaue Reiter with Kandinsky.
