A colour etching with aquatint of 1924 by Richard Teschner, a Bohemian-born artist who worked in Vienna. A long-bearded old man in a fur coat and cap trudges along a woodland path with a staff and a sack, and on the sack over his shoulder sits a haloed angel holding up a cross of twigs crowned with three points of starlight. Teschner is best known for his Figurenspiegel, a theatre of rod puppets he built himself.
