A Christmas postcard of 1907 by the American illustrator Ellen Clapsaddle. A wooden sled with curled runners is heaped with sprigs of red-berried holly, and a big red ribbon is tied in a bow and trails away like a towrope. Clapsaddle was one of the most prolific postcard artists of the early twentieth century; her signature sits at lower right, below the greeting A Merry Christmas.
