Pluto in True Color
New Horizons spacecraft
Pluto photographed by the New Horizons spacecraft as it flew past in July 2015, processed to approximate true colour. The bright heart-shaped plain at lower right is Tombaugh Regio, covered in nitrogen ice, and the dark areas are deposits of reddish organic material. After nine and a half years of flight it was the first clear face of Pluto.
