Pluto in True Color
New Horizons spacecraft
Pluto, im Juli 2015 beim Vorbeiflug von der Raumsonde New Horizons fotografiert und auf annähernd echte Farben aufbereitet. Die helle herzförmige Ebene rechts unten ist die Tombaugh Regio, mit Stickstoffeis bedeckt, und die dunklen Bereiche sind Ablagerungen rötlichen organischen Materials. Nach neuneinhalb Jahren Flug war es Plutos erstes klares Gesicht.
