The southern lights photographed in 2010 by the crew of the International Space Station passing over the southern hemisphere. A green curtain, made by particles from the Sun striking oxygen in the atmosphere, streams like a ribbon above the curve of the Earth, with red glowing higher up. It is the rare view of an aurora from above.
