A poster of 1899 for Sarah Bernhardt as Floria Tosca in Victorien Sardou's La Tosca. Tosca, in a feathered hat and dark gown, holds a big bunch of flowers and leans on a tall cane, while a faint little scene shows inside the round halo behind her. A pale beige and grey Art Nouveau frame surrounds it all, so the lettering and the colours of the bouquet are the landmarks and the light border is best left for last.
