The Times of the Day: Morning Awakening
Alphonse Mucha
Morning Awakening, the first of the four Times of the Day panels of 1899. A fair-haired woman in a pink gown sits on a branch and looks straight out as if just woken, surrounded by fresh green leaves and white blossom tinged with morning light. The Gothic-arch window and gilt ornamental frame are the same in all four panels, so the frame is the easy start; inside, the pink gown is the clearest landmark.
