A study in watercolour and gouache of a single hare crouching on bare paper. Dürer built up the fur hair by hair with a fine brush, from the brown of the back to the pale belly, the upright ears and the whiskers, and a tiny reflection like a window frame glints in its eye. The date 1502 and his AD monogram sit below; in the puzzle, follow the direction of the fur to place the pieces.
