Un estudio a la acuarela y la aguada de una liebre agazapada sobre el papel desnudo. Durero construyó el pelaje pelo a pelo con un pincel finísimo, del pardo del lomo al vientre claro, las orejas erguidas y los bigotes, y en el ojo brilla un reflejo diminuto, como el de una ventana. Debajo figuran la fecha 1502 y su monograma AD; al montar el puzle, la dirección del pelo indica dónde va cada pieza.
