Barefoot young women carrying musical instruments file down a curving golden staircase. No story is told: similar faces and silver-grey robes repeat like a musical phrase as the procession flows downward. With the tall canvas packed with figures this is a hard puzzle; the gold bands of the steps and the patch of sky at the top are the landmarks.
