Towers of gas and dust in the heart of the Eagle Nebula, where new stars are being born. Hubble made the scene famous in 1995; in 2022 the James Webb Space Telescope photographed it again in near-infrared light, revealing newborn red stars behind the dust. The pillars are some four to five light-years tall.
