The Moon and the Stars: The Moon
Alphonse Mucha
The Moon closes the four-panel series The Moon and the Stars (1902). A woman crowned with flowers rests a hand at her lips, a crescent moon curving behind her head like a halo, while a blue-grey drape dotted with stars wraps her body in pale, cool tones. The light green border and the white arc of the moon are easy landmarks; the dotted cloth is best matched by the spacing of its stars.
