Paul Klee
A round head divided into planes of pink, yellow and white, with two red eyes and a single raised eyebrow. The title is the botanical name of the groundsels, from the Latin for old man, and the German subtitle Baldgreis, soon-old-man, carries the same pun. Painted in oil on gauze, it lets the rough weave of the cloth show through.
