A triptych with the Garden of Eden on the left, a garden of pleasure in the centre where naked figures play among giant fruit and birds, and a grotesque hell on the right. What Bosch meant to warn against has been argued over for five centuries, and the invented creatures and episodes that fill every inch still look surreal today.
