Watering Place at Marly
Alfred Sisley
The pond at Marly where the royal horses drank in the days of Louis XIV, painted in 1875. The palace was long gone but the pond and its trees remained as a place for villagers to stroll. Trees and white clouds mirrored in the water make the top and bottom of the picture nearly symmetrical.
