People fishing beside the bridge at Asnières on the Seine, painted in spring 1887 during van Gogh's Paris years. He was going out to the suburbs with Signac to try bright colour and short strokes. Water and young leaves are pastel-bright, a van Gogh entirely unlike the dark Dutch years.
