No. 13 of The Slav Epic, The Hussite King Jiří of Poděbrady (1923). In 1462 the king rises from his throne to reject the papal legate who has demanded the revocation of the Hussite Compacts: the legate in a red robe stands at the centre before a Gothic window flooded with yellow light, the king in dark robes on a dais at the right, crowds with papers before them around the hall and a red banner above. The yellow window and the red legate are the landmarks; the dim crowd is matched by the colours of its clothing.
