The Belgian painter Charles van den Eycken spent his career on interiors with cats in them. A ginger kitten has climbed onto a wooden crate and fixed on something out of frame, while its sibling below has not yet taken an interest. The fur is painted hair by hair, and the blue of the porcelain sharpens against it once the picture is cut into pieces.
