Louis Wain was an English artist who drew nothing but cats. He began after his wife’s death, drawing the cat they had kept, and he is often credited with making the cat a household pet in late-Victorian Britain. This late work breaks the animal down into shapes like stained glass, so the jigsaw cuts and the pattern in the picture keep overlapping in a way that is oddly satisfying.
