Painted in 1894 by the Hungarian animal painter Géza Vastagh. He spent his time at the Budapest zoo painting big cats, and it shows even in a house cat: you can see where the muscle sits and where the weight falls. Only the white chest fur lifts out of the dark ground, and that makes a good place to start.
