Regattas at Argenteuil
Claude Monet
White sailing boats on the Seine at Argenteuil cast trembling reflections as they prepare to race. The mirrored sails and houses are laid in with broad, bold strokes so that the lower half of the picture answers the upper half. It is one of the most buoyant paintings of Monet's years at Argenteuil.
