A poster for the Louisiana Purchase Exposition, the world's fair held in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1904. Inside a round frame a laurel-crowned woman in an orange dress sits holding the hand of a Native American man in a feathered headdress; the fair's name and dates run across the top, and dense lines below give the journey from Paris and compare the sizes of earlier fairs. Orange dress and grey-blue background sort by colour, and the tight text at the bottom and the small faces in the upper corners fix their places.
