Luchon, Queen of the Pyrenees
Alphonse Mucha
A travel poster for the Orléans and Midi railways advertising the Pyrenean spa of Bagnères-de-Luchon as the queen of the Pyrenees, an early work before Mucha's mature style. A rider in a dark jacket and red sash sits on a pale horse, two panels at the right show the casino and the thermal baths, and red lettering above and below names the railway and the June-to-October season. The pale horse and red title stand out from the dark browns and greens, and the two panels of buildings, full of detail, are worth gathering separately.
