Oak

Medium
Silk; damask weave

A silk damask designed by Morris in 1881: oak leaves and acorns woven on a green ground. In damask the pattern shows only through the sheen of the threads, so it stays subtle in a photograph. The jagged outline of the leaves is the clue.
