Waterloo Bridge, Sunlight Effect
Claude Monet
One of the Thames series Monet painted from a window of the Savoy Hotel on three visits to London from 1899. Waterloo Bridge and the factory chimneys across the river dissolve in violet and orange light through the fog. He loved the fog, saying that without it London would not be beautiful.
