Snow on the Sumida River
Keisai Eisen
An aizuri print of the early 1830s made with Prussian blue alone: trees and boats on the snowy Sumida rendered only in shades of blue. A distinctive genre born of the craze for the imported pigment. One colour makes it hard, but the shapes of the trees are the clue.
