Paris Street; Rainy Day
Gustave Caillebotte
Caillebotte's masterpiece, shown at the Impressionist exhibition of 1877: a crossroads on one of Baron Haussmann's new boulevards on a rainy day. The couple with an umbrella seem about to walk out of the frame, and the photographic perspective was radical for its time. Wide wet paving and grey façades make it a good choice for a high piece count.
