A saucer of milk, and the moment every kitten looks up at once. Alfred-Arthur Brunel de Neuville built a Salon career on compositions that put cats and still life in the same frame. The blue saucer is the only cool colour in the picture, which makes those pieces the natural ones to pull out first.
