A couple dance at an open-air dance hall at Bougival outside Paris. The woman in the red bonnet is the painter Suzanne Valadon, and the man's straw hat and her skirts blur with the movement. A dropped bouquet and cigarette ends on the ground tell of the gaiety of the day.
