The Flowers: Iris
Alphonse Mucha
Iris from The Flowers, the set of four decorative panels. A woman with golden hair pinned up, in a sheer apricot gown, stands barefoot with her head bowed and one hand raised, while purple irises and green leaves crowd around her from top to bottom against a pale yellow-green ground. The purple blooms are scattered everywhere, so tell them apart by the direction of their petals; the apricot dress is close in tone to the background and is best fitted along its outline.
