Utagawa Kunisada II (Kunimasa III, Toyokuni IV)
Kiritsubo, the first of the fifty-four chapters of The Tale of Genji, from a card-format series by Kunisada II in 1857. Court ladies gather beneath cherry blossom with the chapter name on the card above. Dense colour and pattern give every piece plenty of information.
