A pair of six-panel screens showing a scene from the Tales of Ise, where a poet composes verses at a marsh of irises crossed by eight bridges, painted with no figure at all, only irises and bridges. On a gold ground Kōrin used just ultramarine and green, repeating the flowers like a rhythm while the zigzag bridge cuts across. A masterpiece of the Rinpa style.
