Kitagawa Utamaro
Three celebrated beauties of Edo, the teahouse daughters Okita and Ohisa and the geisha Toyohina, arranged in a triangle in Utamaro's most famous print. The faces look alike at first, but eyes, noses and brows differ just enough for contemporaries to tell them apart. A background dusted with mica glitters to set off the figures.
